About the Orator
Dr. Eckhert is a Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health, University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School and Senior Lecturer at Harvard Medical School. She is a past Chair, Department of Family and Community Medicine, University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School and former Dean of International and Public Health Programs University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School.
She received her medical degree from State University of New York at Buffalo, completed her Internship at Cleveland Clinical and residencies in Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospitals as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars and has been certified and recertified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Eckhert fosters relationships focused on developing and enhancing academic health centers. She is the Director of Academic Programs for Partners HealthCare International which is now part of the Mass General Brigham system. She has been on faculty at Harvard Macy Programs, Interim Dean 2010-2012 Lebanese American University School of Medicine, Visiting Professor University of Zimbabwe School of Medicine and instrumental in building new medical schools in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Eckhert has extensive experience working internationally in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Passionate about education and faculty development, she has held prestigious national positions such as Chair, Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and, President of the Association of Teachers of Preventive Medicine, and Chair of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medial Graduates (ECFMG). Appointed under the Obama administration she continues to serve on the National Committee for Foreign Medical Education of the U.S. Department of Education.
